Fashion Forum 2017
6 – 7 March 2017
International Conference for Students
In March 2017, we hosted our annual international student conference the Fashion Forum. This year we focused on the subject of ‘age’ in the broadest sense to explore new boundaries and challenge conventional wisdom.
We welcomed Professor Melanie Reim an award-winning illustrator who acted as our ‘Artist in Residence’ together with a plethora of exciting guest speakers who have a wealth of knowledge and industry experience. From an exclusive interview with Barbara Hulanicki OBE (the founder of the iconic fashion brand ‘Biba’) to vibrant talks from an exciting array of speakers such as Manchester Metropolitan University alumnus Ruari Mahon who now heads up Public Relations and Communications for Nudie Jeans in New York.
“For me, what had the most impact was the confidence and the ability the panel had to talk about the same subject yet apply it to various areas of the industry. As well as making it relevant and very significant. I felt so motivated and influenced to get out there and just explore even further!”
Natalie Cummings, Fashion Design and Technology Student
