Manchester Fashion Institute Students Shine on the Global Stage at Global Fashion Graduate Africa 2025

09 December 2025

Two students from Manchester Fashion Institute (MFI), Rhodel Mintah (BA Fashion) and Jasmine Kelly (BA Fashion Design & Technology), showcased their work on an international platform at Global Fashion Graduate Africa 2025, held in Cape Town from 21–23 October 2025.

Curated in partnership with Arts Thread and the Cape Town Fashion Council, the event brought together graduate designers from world-leading fashion and art schools for a three-day programme focused on creative exchange, academic dialogue and cultural exploration. Highlights included a graduate fashion show opening Cape Town Fashion Week, positioning emerging designers before an international audience of media and industry leaders.

Reflecting on the students’ participation, Kat Scott, MFI International Lead, said:
“We were incredibly pleased and proud to have both Rhodel and Jasmine represent Manchester Fashion Institute and Manchester Metropolitan University at the recent Global Fashion Graduate Africa showcase. Their work embodies the innovative, creative and globally inspired practice that defines our Institute, and it was inspiring to see it presented in a city as vibrant as Cape Town, South Africa.”

Rhodel Mintah shared their perspective on exhibiting internationally:
“I’m truly honoured to share my collection, Urban Vortex – Accra, on a global stage. It’s a reflection of my roots, my creativity, and the vibrant spirit of Accra.”

Jasmine Kelly added:
“My collection, Mr William, was inspired by my grandad’s travels, which makes it especially meaningful to see the designs take on a life of their own and be presented on a global stage.”

The students’ inclusion highlights Manchester Fashion Institute’s commitment to nurturing globally minded graduates and delivering a curriculum that connects creativity, culture and international collaboration.
