Charlotte Anthoney

BA (Hons) Fashion Design Technology (Womenswear) 2020

During my degree, I had the opportunity to complete a year works placement as a Fashion Design Assistant at ‘FG4 London’, based in the Cotswolds. The company specialises in embellished Womenswear and Childrenswear. Working in a team and liaising with factories enabled me to build upon my key skills of communication, Cad, tech packs, design development and also helped me discover my love for creating embroideries and print developments.

My collection takes inspiration from the perception of the ‘Villain’ or the ‘Hero’ prevalent throughout Shakespearean plays.

Using sheer floaty fabrications enabled me to present a feminine and delicate tone, whilst contrasting structured shapes and dramatic silhouettes to reflect the dark storyline of ‘Macbeth’. The outfits are predominantly character lead, reflecting each individual’s narrative through the use of shape, embroidery and key aesthetic and functional design features.

I hope to apply the knowledge and skills I have acquired from both my time at university and my placement to pursue a career in Fashion Design. My placement has given me a clear insight into the ins-and-outs of the industry and allowed me to discover what I’m really passionate about. With the aid of a talented team, I hope to be in the position to create my own e-commerce business in the future.
