Fashion Design and Technology Womenswear student sells collection to Angela Missoni

13 June 2017

A student who previously received the Special Mention Award for her designs from Angela Missoni during FAD competition receives ultimate recognition when Angela Missoni buys her collection as a gift for her Daughter.

BA (Hons) Fashion Design and Technology student, Zoe Alexandria Leech, was among 20 student finalists from 16 universities when she was shortlisted for the February 2017 FAD x Missoni competition.

Zoe received the Special Mentioned Award for her collection, requested specifically by Angela Missoni – heir to world-renowned Italian fashion brand Missoni. She was praised for her beautifully finished garments, which made contemporary use of historical techniques and elegantly incorporated movement and fluidity.

Since the competition, Zoe has completed her undergraduate degree and gone on to present her final collection at Manchester Fashion Institute’s Graduate Fashion Week Showcase. She has recently received the ultimate recognition as Angela Missoni herself has bought Zoe’s collection, designed for the FAD competition, to give to her daughter as a gift.

Zoe has said of the experience: “It was such a privilege to receive a Special Mention Award from Angela Missoni in the first place, but for her to buy my first collection is an unbelievable honour!”
