CATWALKING: Fashion through the lens of Chris Moore

01 October 2018

First years from Fashion Design and Technology visited the exhibition at the Bowes Museum as part of their induction week schedule.

The Bowes Museum are currently hosting fashion photographer Chris Moore, who at the forefront of fashion for six decades, captures the key moments at legendary fashion shows such as Balenciaga, Chanel, Dior, John Galliano, Comme des GarŅ«ons, Christopher Kane, Alexander McQueen, Yves Saint Laurent and Vivienne Westwood.

Students in their first year of our Fashion Design and Technology were able to observe images captured by Chris Moore, depicting the zeitgeist of the time with commentary on how the communication of fashion imagery has progressed since the mid-20th century. Students were encouraged to take photographs and/or sketch garment details they found interesting. The gathering of this research can then be used to initiate their first unit of study.
