M&S and Gap among sponsors at awards evening

TALENTED students from the Hollings faculty have had their skills recognised by top fashion brands at an awards evening.

Companies including Marks and Spencer, Gap and Drapers sponsored awards recognising the talent on show in the Department of Apparel.

Students won prizes of up to £3,000 cash and also received placement opportunities.

Dean of the Hollings Faculty, Colin Renfrew, said: “The Hollings Faculty was founded with a principle and a mission to link education and industry and over one hundred years later it is satisfying and rewarding to see that that is still the case.”

Seamless move

Deputy Vice Chancellor for Student Success Dr Myszka Guzkowska said: “This is an opportunity to celebrate our link with the fashion industry. Placements provide our students with excellent and dynamic job opportunities and allow them to bridge theory and practice.”

She continued: “The success of these awards is testament to how seamlessly staff and students have moved from the Toastrack to their new home at All Saints and become part of this wonderful campus.”

Organiser Caroline Herz said: “Guest feedback was that our facilities had ‘blown them away’!”
