My collection: 'I don’t wanna do this anymore, but someone has to', is loosely based around a book called 'Please Kill Me' by Legs McNeil & Gillian McCain. It’s retells the history of punk through interviews with key members of the scene at the time, playing on what can be considered fact and fiction, running with this idea of the distortion of storytelling, I wanted to show this through my clothes, warping what you could consider 'classic Punk' clothing. I did not want to create just another punk collection, glorifying all the glamour of the period. I wanted to also include the darker side of Punk history, the side that fashion seems to neglect, such as the violence and political incorrectness surrounding it.
