After studying at Edinburgh University with a degree in Printed Textile Design, Kat moved to London where she worked for companies with a focus on sustainable design and practices. Her passion for this area and studying textile communities took her from London to Sri Lanka where she worked for three years as the Programme Leader for (BA) Fashion at Academy of Design, Colombo an affiliate school of Northumbria University in the UK.
Enjoying being able to work creatively, in 2017, Kat worked as a commercial print designer, creating prints which were used by a range of UK based companies and designed two collections which showcased at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Sri Lanka. She later returned to AOD where she built, managed and taught on both the Design Foundation course and BA Fashion Design.
Kat graduated from Northumbria University with a MA in Creative and Cultural Industries Management with a thesis specialized in the future of Sri Lanka’s creative industries, she has worked closely with the heritage craft industries and communities and the hi-tech garment manufacturing industries to develop collaborative trans-national projects across Sri Lanka.
