Senior Lecturer (Programme Leader - Fashion Business & Management)
Julie graduated from Liverpool John Moores University majoring in Business Studies and Purchasing, furthering her studies at Manchester Metropolitan University. Julie became a Senior Lecturer in International Fashion Business in 2007 and Programme Leader for the Fashion Business and Management Programme. Julie's specialist area of expertiseis is International Fashion Supply Chain Management, a subject in which she has conducted research for the retail industry, written trade articles and published papers internationally.
Julie is active in research, academic enterprise and work closely with the international retail industry. In additional to her role as a Programme Leader, Julie is also the Senior Personal Tutor for Manchester Fashion Institute, facilitating student's personal development and academic progress, achievement, career readiness aspirations and transitions into and out of university education.

Julie's background as a fashion retail buyer within the clothing industry has spanned 20 years across a variety of retailer organisations. Julie was a Senior Buyer within international fashion trading companies managing both Trainee Buyers and numerous assistants across retail, e-commerce and mail-order businesses. This industry background, has enabled Julie to bring her vast experience into the classroom as a Senior Lecturer and has enabled the students journey be as close to reality as possible. Julie has taught at all levels from Foundation to Masters, with subjects spanning Fashion Buying, Marketing, Enterprise, People Management and Supply Chain Management. In addition to her teaching she is both a Year Manager and a Unit Leader.
Julie also has experience in teaching on a global scale, with four years teaching in Australia, China and Dominican Republic. As well as her post as a Programme Leader and Senior Lecturer, she has established a number of pilot programme to enable a close connection between industry figures and academic institutes. These programs have enabled the academic institutes to develop and provide mentoring, work experience, live briefs and competitions for students. Julie has also worked closely to represent companies in negotiations for business, training courses and sourcing strategies.

Projects and initiatives
Julie has been working with many partnership Universities/Colleges as a guest lectuer and student projects, Beijing International Fashion Technology (BIFT), Altos de Chevon Dominican Republic, Marangoni Paris. The level 5 International Fashion Promotions students and the Beijing Senior students have been working on an International project together. The project was a great success with excellent feedback from all students involved.

Julie has an MA in Researcher and has written and presented numerous at conferences. An example of Julie's work:- Paper at the IFFTI Conference in Japan, on ‘An Embedding Approach Towards Highly Employable, Industry-Ready Students’. IFFTI Conference in China, 'The Future of Buyer Supplier Relationships'.
Julie has collaborated with a number of Institutions globally to enhance the students experience. Some of her collaborations have been in China, India, Dominican Republic, Japan and Australia.
