BA (Hons) Fashion Promotion

"...be confident in your ideas and listen to tutors as they will help you so much"

The course

I chose to study Fashion Promotion as I wanted to learn about marketing in the fashion industry. This course gave me the flexibility to be creative and also focus on my specialism of fashion styling. I also wanted to learn about online marketing as this is incredibly relevant. Furthermore, learning about fashion cultures and cultural perspectives was important to me.

Teaching & Facilities

The lecturers and tutors have been incredible, they have helped me develop my work, and I have learnt so much from them. I was able to attend extra Adobe classes weekly, and I was able to use a range of camera equipment and book the studio whenever I wanted to film or photograph.

Favourite Project

My favourite project was for my final year as I created an inclusive fashion company with the unique selling point of a subscription box for loaning one-of-a-kind and upcycled clothing at a great price. I created a multi-channel online campaign, designed specifically for my target consumer. Another favourite project is my film on whether brands are helping or hindering masculinity. Furthermore, my hypothetical campaign for Smart Works and a hypothetical collaboration campaign for Supreme and The Royal Ballet let me develop my fashion styling skills.

Placement/Internship

I completed an internship with Nicky Clarke, working with the managing director and the marketing director. I created content for Nicky Clarkes new sub-brand Azure for social media platforms including Instagram, Facebook, Snapchat, Twitter and TikTok. I also created engagement for Nicky Clarke’s social media platforms. Furthermore, I generated promotional material such as leaflets, using InDesign, for their pop-up at the Goodwood races.

Plans/Aspirations for the future

My plan for this coming year is to further my studies and do the International Fashion Marketing MSc at Manchester Fashion Institute because I enjoy being at University in Manchester, and I want to explore fashion marketing further. I aspire to be a fashion stylist and hopefully work for a sustainable brand in either Manchester or London.

Advice for prospective students

My advice would be to go to the extra sessions, such as for using Adobe software. Plus, to make the most out of the equipment and the studio to create content for your portfolio. Also, to be confident in your ideas and listen to tutors as they will help so much.
