Daniel Hutchcroft

BA (Hons) Fashion Business & Management

The Course

Studying the Fashion Business & Management Course provided me with a good overall understanding of how the fashion industry works, which enabled me to have a choice of a variety of career paths within the industry to pursue once I had graduated.

Particularly the Business Analytics unit was the most useful and best applicable for my career in merchandising. However, other memorable projects were creating our own customer experience to be launched in Selfridges and having the opportunity to pitch the idea to Selfridges marketing teams. Also developing our own Business plan to launch our own start up as our final year project, for which I created a multi brand e-commerce site made specifically for Trans and Non-binary people.

After Graduation

After Graduation I found a job as Merchandising Admin Assistant at Footasylum, where I gained valuable experience in Merchandising before which I had none. Since then I moved companies to Boohoo, where I have now progressed to the Assistant Merchandiser of the Tops department.

Advice for Future Fashion Graduates

Main advice for students is that getting a placement isn’t everything once you have actually graduated, I really tried to secure a placement and was unsuccessful but still have been able to continue a career straight out of graduating.

Daniel Hutchcroft is now working as an Assistant Merchandiser at Boohoo.
