I am a senior fashion educator with experience of teaching in universities in the UK and Australia. Before joining Manchester Fashion Institute, I was Head of School Design at Australian College of the Arts, in Melbourne. Whilst in Australia I gained a PhD from Monash University; my thesis focused on fashion taste-making in the contemporary digital and networked fashion media environment. I have also worked in a range of design and consultancy roles for companies such as Whistles, John Lewis and Next as well as offshore garment producers in Hong Kong, Tunisia and Mauritius, prior to my career in academia.

I teach in the fashion business department of Manchester Fashion Institute with a focus on fashion marketing and mediation, branding and communications. My research examines the power of fashion communications to influence mindsets, perceptions and behaviours, especially in relation to sustainable behaviour change. I view fashion education as a critical site, capable of finding new directions and solving complex problems for the future fashion industry. As such, I enact pedagogies of kindness and critical optimism, to support and encourage students to challenge the status quo in pursuit of a better future. I am a Senior Fellow of HEA and a member of Union of Concerned Fashion Researchers
