As an expert in digital business transformation, Dr Farag Edghiem is currently a Senior Lecturer in Digital Marketing Communications in Manchester Metropolitan University where he leads multiple units at undergraduate and postgraduate levels along with supervising Doctoral students. Dr Edghiem attained his PhD in Innovation Management from Liverpool Business School. Dr Edghiem has built up an international reputation as an active contributor to numerous prestigious academic journals and academic conferences, the research focus of Dr Edghiem is on the topics of service innovation and the digital transformation in the service sector where he investigates the critical role of service employees in initiating innovation, value co creation through service digital encounters, service automation and robotic applications. Dr Edghiem is also a regular external examiner for PhD candidates at UK Universities.

Dr Farag Edghiem is a certified management and business educator CMBE by the Chartered Association of Business Schools UK. Dr Edghiem has developed an extensive teaching experience by designing and leading digital marketing modules at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Additionally, Dr Edghiem have developed significant experience in programme development at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

With an extensive professional network, Dr Farag Edghiem is an active member of multiple professional bodies and nurtures collaborations with senior business executives and renowned scholars from Mainland Europe, North America and the Middle East and North Africa MENA region where he is involved in establishing education partnerships and knowledge transfer projects.

Research

Research interests

My research focusses on the digital transformation in the service sector. I contribute to numerous academic journals and conferences with research outputs on the topics of digital transformation in the service sector and digital marketing where I investigate the critical role of service employees in initiating innovation, value co-creation through service digital encounters, service automation and robotics applications. From the perspective of digital marketing, the topics of digital branding and the challenges to providing a preferable user-experience UX.

In addition, I aim to investigate further the specific determinants and role of service employees in initiating innovation in multiple service subsectors. Essentially, my research interest includes exploring service employees’ innovative behaviour from an international perspective, with special interest in the Middle East and North Africa MENA region.

Academic collaborations

I disseminate my research regularly in international conferences and in high impact international journals. My effective capability to work within research teams and my established relationships with distinguished academics gained through academic networking would certainly assist me to contribute to multiple research communities where I’m currently a member of the academic review panel of the following research communities:
