Dr Kirsi Niinimäki

Dr Kirsi Niinimäki is Associate Professor in Fashion Research at Aalto University. Her research focuses on holistic understanding of sustainable fashion and textile fields and connections between design, manufacturing, business models and consumption. She also runs the Fashion and Textile Futures research group at Aalto University. The research group is involved in several significant research projects, which integrate closed-loop, bio-economy and circular-economy approaches in fashion and textile systems. Niinimäki’s scientific work is widely published in scientific journals. She is also a head of study programmes for Fashion BA (Hons) and Fashion and Collection MA at Aalto University.
