I am a Senior Lecturer and the Menswear Pathway Leader on the BA (Hons) Fashion Design & Technology programme at the Manchester Fashion Institute.

Academic and professional qualifications

BA (Hons) Fashion Design and Technology, Manchester Metropolitan University (1997-2001).

Previous Employment

As an FDT graduate myself, I've enjoyed 14 years industry success designing fashion product for Men, Women and Children carving out a career as a Men’s Outerwear expert.

I have created cohesive collections for global outdoor, street and sportswear brands, gaining experience at all levels including management. I have worked for brands, retailers & wholesalers such as Bench, Umbro, Tumi, Regatta, Bernard Weatherill, Sportax Ltd & Oi Polloi.

Research Interests

Im intrested in the following research areas:

Anthropology of clothing, gender roles, work, women and workwear.

Utopian Fashion, individual and collective identity, uniforms and non-uniforms. 

Communicating codes/narrative via color and materials in dress.
