Senior Lecturer (Fashion Business)
Academic and professional qualifications
I have worked within the clothing industry for more than 20 years.
I have have taught at all levels, with subjects spanning Fashion Buying, Marketing, Enterprise, People Management and Synergy, which has 745 students. In addition to her teaching she is both a Year Manager and Unit Leader.
I have experience in teaching on a global scale, with four years experience in Australia. As well as my post as Senior Lecturer, I also established a pilot programme to enable a close connection between industry figures and the Melbourne School of Fashion (MSF). During this time I formed close relationships with large industry bodies. The program was developed to enable the Melbourne School of Fashion to provide mentoring, work experience and design competitions for their students, as well as ensuring the MSF students were given first notice of any future job positions within these organisations. The programme has been extremely successful and to date has seen many students obtain work within the fashion industry. In addition, I also worked closely to represent companies in negotiations for business, training courses and sourcing strategies.
I was a Senior Buyer within an international fashion trading company and manager of both Trainee Buyers and numerous assistants across retail, e-commerce and mail-order businesses. I have travelled extensively throughout the world, sourcing from existing and potential suppliers.
