The collapse of nature

My graduate collection draws attention to the impact human actions have on the natural world, through exploring the juxtaposition between entomology and utilitarianism. I was particularly interested in researching the decline of insects and the impact it will have on our ecosystems.

My stand work was inspired by combining military garments with insect exoskeletons and discovering parallels between the protective body armour worn by humans and insects. I experimented with fibreglass material to develop silhouettes that resembled exoskeletal structures, with the intention that these garments could also be worn once the structure was "deflated."
