I have loved my time at MFI studying Fashion Buying and Merchandising and I’m so proud of the achievements I have made along the way. This course enabled me to gain an understanding of the current fashion climate and develop my knowledge of the wider fashion industry. I particularly enjoyed the buying and marketing aspects of the course the most as I was able to be more creative in my approach to my work whilst still developing my skills.

Whilst the FBM course provided me with amazing opportunities, I struggled to get a placement role due to the lack of roles available as a result of the pandemic. However, during my final year I was able to gain valuable work experience with the slow fashion company, Fassion, as brand buyer and content creator. This really enhanced my understanding of marketing and the Gen Z consumer so for my Final Major Project I decided to do a Live Brief with Manchester based Steely Flats. Throughout  this project I developed a strategy to engage the Gen Z consumer which was supported by a marketing campaign that I created. I presented this work to the owner of the brand who has since reached out to offer me some work with with them.

Although I was so proud of my work, I was devastated to be finishing my time as an MFI student as it honestly was the best 3 years of my life. I have been very lucky to secure a role with N Brown as Assistant Merchandiser and I am so excited to take my FBM experience with me in this role and for my future career plans.
