Anne Heffren BA (Hons) Fashion
I'm a womenswear designer specialising in knitwear. My practice follows an organic make process that has been influenced by zero-waste concepts. Research is a fundamental step in my design process, I value learning about current sustainable practice within the industry from responsible supply chain management, bio-engineered eco-friendly textiles and circular business models that promote clothing longevity. Sustainable practice that focuses on environmental and ethical impacts are at the core of my design philosophy.
My passion for knit has grown immensely throughout my final collection. I explored the Victorian Era and extracted details found in an antique doll dress into knit surfaces and construction samples. I was further inspired by Aran jumpers and closely explored symbolism of cable designs. Then found a passion in symmetrical lace design inspired by the structures and transparency found in stained glass windows. I was drawn to the tactility of 3D surfaces and created a blend of both lace and 3D surfaces to embody contemporary simple silhouettes.
