Sitting With Masculinity
As a menswear designer, my collection draws inspiration from the strength and simplicity of Monobloc chairs as well as male vulnerability whilst also merging with bold block colours.
Throughout my design process, I found myself drawn to the idea of therapy and its portrayal as an uncomfortable experience for some individuals. I found comfort in using my interest in psychology as a basis for my research as the clothes I choose to wear on any given day can usually indicate my mood before I am even aware myself. Challenging the traditional perspectives of therapy, my collection aims to spark conversations and encourage dialogue on the intricacies of personal development.
In my garments, I strive to balance protection and vulnerability, creating a visual narrative that resonates with individuals on their personal journeys. Through bold colours, individuals can choose which colour will strengthen or protect them depending on their mood that day. I worked to express masculinity in my designs while subtly incorporating delicate details and fabrics to evoke a sense of introspection.
Pattern cutting and attention to detail are at the forefront of my design approach. I prioritize natural materials to ensure a gentle blend of narrative and functional garments. By combining style and comfort, I aim to empower those who seek to better themselves, instilling individuals with a sense of confidence and self assurance.
