My graduate collection is designed to be unisex and features technical outerwear and military inspired utilitarian details, various knitwear techniques and repurposed materials. I specialize in knitwear and have interests in technical, highly functional design, transformable garments and sustainability. The collection was heavily influenced by my experience growing up in a village and exploring the more isolated small villages in the surrounding peak district, thinking about life for young people living in such rural areas and how alternative lifestyles may collide when music festivals and raves take place in these areas. Imagery around raves and festivals highlighted a series of expressive subjects and inspired the mouth motif that features throughout the collection. Exploration into workwear clothing and uniforms associated with rural industries as well as reference to a collection of military garments supplied inspiration for functional garment details and fixtures featured in my collection. Analysing tents and their fixtures and finishings also supported some of the more technical and waterproof garments I have designed. In the collection I used repurposed tent details including tent zips, guide rope tensioners and gaiter hooks. The idea of packing light and creating outfits for multiple days of a festival inspired me to create transformable garments that could be worn in different ways for different days. My collection features transformable garments including a jacket that can also be worn as trousers and a bag.
