Nomads from Kutch
As a designer, I specialize in seamlessly fusing traditional and modern techniques, my creative journey revolves around the intricate art of cultural storytelling and social upliftment. My mission within the fashion realm is to champion sustainable practices, effectively working towards a more eco-conscious industry.
In the pursuit of this vision, my inspiration sprouted from the vibrant tapestry of the Rabari tribe of Kutch. This tribe has inspired me to craft fashion that not only pays homage to their time-honoured traditions but also contributes to social upliftment. I've taken a conscious step towards sustainability by using mono fibres in my designs, ensuring that each piece can be easily recycled.
Each garment in my collection is a carefully tailored masterpiece, artfully embroidered and patchworked, exemplifying the fusion of heritage and modernity. I've placed a significant focus on fabrications, ensuring that the textiles I use carry the essence of Rabari tradition while meeting the demands of contemporary fashion.
What truly captivated my imagination is the matriarchal nature of Rabari society. Women hold a central and authoritative role in their families and communities. They are a symbol of strength, resilience, and an unbreakable connection to their roots. This profound facet of this culture has inspired me to honour not just their craftsmanship but also to celebrate the empowering role of women within their community.
Furthermore, my collection borrows its creative essence from the very clothing that Rabari women have worn through the ages. It feels as though their unique attire carries echoes from a distant past, adorned with intricate embroidery motifs and stories etched in tattoos, weaving a rich tapestry of culture and identity. By skilfully blending these elements into modern fashion, my goal is to celebrate the enduring strength and wisdom of Rabari women.
