Kieran Davies BA (Hons) Fashion Buying and Merchandising
My university journey began in 2018. My family have always encouraged me to pursue my passion for fashion, which has always held a particular place in my heart. I immediately knew I had to apply as soon as I noticed a course for "Fashion Buying & Merchandising"!
I can now say that choosing to attend university and enrol in this course was the best choice I have ever made. I have been able to learn more about the fashion industry thanks to this programme. Each year has helped me to better grasp what Fashion Buying and Merchandising includes as well as the numerous career options that are accessible.
Throughout my five years at university, my tutors and lecturers have provided me with unending support. They have provided me with a wealth of knowledge and numerous opportunities over the years to become the buyer I am today and to hone my social skills. If you had told me four years ago that I would feel comfortable speaking in front of a lecture hall with more than 200 people, I would have laughed and asked you to "jog on!"
It also afforded me the chance to have a one-year overseas placement in buying at Converse's headquarters office in Amsterdam. I got chosen out of 900 candidates, and I don't believe this would have been possible without MMU!
So my final words to everyone as the buying admin assistant I am today ;)
Enjoy your time in university as much as you can—you'll miss it! Take advantage of every chance you get, pay attention in lectures, and be your true, authentic self because that's what will get you a job! And always make sure that you are passionate about the subject matter you are researching and working on because that is what will earn you your degree!
