Whilst studying Fashion Buying and Merchandising at Manchester Metropolitan University, I have been able to gain insight into the current climate of the fashion industry and understand the challenges that are being faced. Throughout my time on this course I have particularly enjoyed the buying assignments, which allowed me to become more creative in my university work as well as develop vital skills which can be used within the industry. Furthermore. this course has also opened up many opportunities for me for example, within my first year of studying this course I won work experience with both Matalan and MissGuided due to the high standard of work which I had produced. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this was then taken online where I was able to gain further insight into how both buying and merchandising roles work within different companies. Overall, I would say that this course has set me up ready to enter the fashion industry with the vital skills I need to be successful. Whilst, I did not complete a placement year I have been able to secure a new job role at N Brown where I am excited to start my fashion career.
